Added by 2021 Update

Project Number: 33
Organization: Overland Park
Project Name: 75th and Metcalf Sidewalk/Transit Enhancement
City(ies), County(ies), State: Overland Park
Routes, interchanges and/or intersections: 75th Street and Metcalf Avenue (401/404 Metcalf bus routes and 475 bus route on 75th)
Primary Project Mode: Active Transportation
Supplementary Project Mode(s): * Active Transportation * Transit )
The southeast corner of 75th and Metcalf does not have a complete sidewalk system. This project will construct new sidewalk that will allow cross-connections between the two bus routes to occur more easily.
Project Purpose: * System expansion (added capacity) )
Project Description: This project will complete missing sidewalk on the southeast corner of 75th and Metcalf. This will be important for better access by transit riders using the 475 route. In addition, pedestrians crossing the intersection of 75th and Metcalf will find it easier to reach destinations farther to the east.
Scope: New sidewalk will be constructed on the SE corner of 75th and Metcalf and extend to the east where it will connect with existing sidewalk near the Sheridans Frozen Custard. Since this is the main corner for two transit routes, the sidewalk will provide a direct connection for those wishing to transfer. The project will require new sidewalk, relocation of some private streetlights in the CVS parking lot, narrowing of the lanes on 75th Street, new curb/gutter, a mill/overlay of 75th Street in the vicinity of this project to narrow the lanes with new striping, and some traffic signal modifications on that corner.
