The next phase of Metcalf Road improvements voted on by the constituents of Louisburg and Miami County via the 2021-2026 Quarter Cent sales Tax program. Proposed project will widen and improve roadway pavement, drainage, and pedestrian traffic. The City of Louisburgs Comprehensive Plan determined a desire to connect Ron Weers Park and Louis Young Park with a trail system. Increased access to walkability would directly benefit the students currently using Metcalf Road to attend school and school functions. Local business also expressed a desire for increased walkability as indicated by the current Metcalf 2.0 project from 287th Street to K-68 (LPA; Amity Road)
Project Purpose: * System preservation, rehabilitation or replacement * System operations and management * Other (This project will allow for intermodal traffic.)
Project Description: Metcalf 3.0 will continue the improvements from Metcalf 2.0 and the K-68 (LPA; Amity Road) and Metcalf intersection improvements. Three major concerns are to be address with Metcalf 3.0. First, improvements to existing pavement with a widening from 11 lanes to 12 lanes, mill and overlay. Address sight distance issues with entrances and other public safety concerns. Second, removal of open ditches for under ground storm water drainage. Third, install a shared use path connecting from Ron Weers Park to 271st Street with the intent to connect to Louis Young Park in the near future.
Scope: Approximately 1 mile of Metcalf will focus on using Complete Street concepts, while upgrading travel modes to be multi-modal. Lane width will increase from 11 foot to 12 foot with curb and gutter and under ground storm water drainage.
