This project will implement the preferred capacity improvements needed in the corridor. While adding capacity, it will aim to improve safety, mobility, and improve access to motorists, freight shippers, and transit operators to regional activity centers and destinations. Users will find that they will be able to more efficiently handle future traffic demand as a result of the preferred alternative.

Project Description: Capacity improvements to the interchange and coordinated improvements to the local network. Primary users of the facility are motorists, freight shippers and transit vehicles.
Scope: Reconstruction and capacity improvements for I-35 from Old US-56 to 119th street in Olathe. The project will include review and development of a coordination plan with the locally sponsored planned project at the interchange of I-35 and Santa Fe Street. Travel modes served: private vehicles, freight, transit. 3.8 miles including interchange at Santa Fe. Safety countermeasures and major work activities are not known at this time, but will be determined through the Preliminary Engineering phase of this project.
