Pleasant Valley Road is currently a narrow, 2 lane street, with no shoulder, curb, gutter or sidewalk, within the City of Pleasant Valley. To the west, Pleasant Valley Road has been widened and improved by the City of Kansas City and Gladstone. To the east, Pleasant Valley Road turns into Liberty Parkway which is a 4 lane road all the way to 291. Between Antioch Road and 291 Highway, the only area that is only 2 lanes is in Pleasant Valley. By widening and improving Pleasant Valley Road within Pleasant Valley, it will alleviate traffic congestion and allow for other modes of transportation such as walking and bicycling.
Project Purpose: * System expansion (added capacity) * System preservation, rehabilitation or replacement * Other (infrastructure for other modes of transport)
Project Description: By widening the road and adding bicycle lanes and sidewalks, the project goal is to allow for more efficient and safer vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian transportation.
Scope: Served by the project: vehicle transportation, bicyclist and pedestrians Project length: Engineering/survey = 1 year, ROW and bid contract = 1 year, Construction = 18 months. Number of lanes: 3 lanes, curb and gutter, bicycle lane, pedestrian sidewalk Currently there are only 2 narrow vehicle lanes, no bicycle lanes and no sidewalk. We except this project to improve the safety for vehicles, bicyclist and pedestrians alike. It will also encourage other modes of transportation besides automotive.

Pleasant Valley Road is slated to connect Gladstone to Liberty with a three-lane road and bike path. Pleasant Valley cannot fund this on its own. If you want a connection without two lanes and ditches, please help. Thanks
