Active Transportation, Freight, Transit: this is an arterial street that connects commercial developments to I-35. The Citys 2016 Transportation Master Plan identified Lone Elm Road for future shared use path and bike lanes. Lone Elm Road is an existing transit route

9. Project description: Widen Lone Elm Road between Old 56 Highway and 151st Street to a four-lane street
10. Scope: (Approximately 1 mile) This project will improve Lone Elm Road to a four-lane divided arterial between Old 56 Highway and 151st Street along with geometric improvements at the intersection of Old 56 Highway and Lone Elm road. Improvements will include pavement, bike lanes, medians, curb and gutter, storm sewer, street lights, landscaping, and all work pertinent to completing the project. This project also includes minor modifications to the existing bridge over the railroad to provide pedestrian access. This will add capacity for motorists and improve travel times. Adding turn lanes at each intersection will also improve safety and capacity. New Sidewalk and/or Shared Use Path will be constructed on each side of the street will provide safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
