119th street is an east/west arterial in Olathe. It crosses multiple arterial streets with commercial and residential developments. 119th Street is a truck route. With an enhanced roadway system transit routes can be expanded.

9. Project description: This project will improve the capacity of the 119th Street and I-35 interchange and ramps by reconfiguring the interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). The project will also include construction of 3 thru lanes in each direction on 119th Street from Renner Blvd to Strang Line Road, auxiliary lanes at the interchange, and widening of 119th Street bridges over I-35 and the 119th bridges over the BNSF Railway. Motorists, pedestrians, transit riders, bicyclists, and trucks will all benefit from the added safety measures.
