This proposed project will implement a large piece of the MetroGreen trail plan thus encouraging a significant increase in bike/ped transportation modes.
Project Purpose: * System expansion (added capacity) * Other (access to our citizens on a major trail )
Project Description: The city of Basehor has 2 large swaths of the MetroGreen trail system that traverse our city. We have a section on the east side as well as a section that dissects the city and continues to our western side. The MetroGreen trail system could/would link our northern and southern portions of Basehor. We would ultimately look to connect the eastern portion of the trail system to our baseball/softball/football and soccer complex (Field of Dreams) thus providing a vital link to one of our most used public facilities.
Scope: Travel modes served: Active- bike/ped Project length: approximately 6 miles Trail width- 10-12 Multi-Use Path There will be major work activities that would need to take place, 2 segments of the trail span Wolf Creek- pedestrian bridges would need to be constructed, there are several parcels that are located within the floodplain that the city would potentially look to purchase to provide parking for trail users to provide access to different areas of the trail. Right of way acquisition would need to take place
