Bike Share is becoming increasingly more integrated with transit. It is an established first/last mile solution with more than 30% of Kansas City bike share users are going to/from transit. Bike share is also a key part of the Smart Moves 3.0 Mobility Hub strategy.
6. Project Purpose: * System expansion (added capacity) * System preservation, rehabilitation or replacement )

9. Project description: This project focuses on two parts. 1) Renewal of the current bike share system by replacing bikes, kiosks, docks, and other equipment as they reach the end of their useful life. 2) Expansion of the shared use mobility network with addition of more bikes and stations, plus the introduction of new technologies like e-bikes, scooters, and other technologies that might emerge during the planning horizon. Bicyclists are the primary users, with significant multi-modal crossover with transit and pedestrians.
10. Scope: Major activities include planning new locations, public engagement, and procuring/installing equipment.
11. Project schedule: The project will be ongoing during the planning horizon. Existing equipment will be replaced as needed. New equipment and devices deployment will occur approximately every two years during the project.

The work that BikeWalkKC has done has been ground breaking and equitable. This funding towards expansion would go farther to reduce wear and tear on current transportation assets by reducing the need for auto usage.
