183rd street is classified as an arterial and is currently in the City of Olathe growth area. It crosses multiple arterial streets with new residential developments. 183rd Street is a truck route. With an enhanced roadway system transit routes can be expanded.

9. Project description: Construct an interchange at the intersection of 183rd and US-169/K7 Hwy. Removing the at-grade intersection and constructing an interchange will improve safety for both crossing thoroughfares. Motorists, pedestrians, transit riders, bicyclists, and trucks will all benefit from the added safety measures.
10. Scope: Construct an interchange at the intersection of 183rd and US-169/K7 Hwy. Project limits would be several hundred feet in all directions of the intersecting roadways. Removing the at-grade intersection and constructing an interchange will improve safety for both crossing thoroughfares. Motorists, pedestrians, transit riders, bicyclists, and trucks will all benefit from the added safety measures. Traffic signals or roundabouts may be constructed at off-ramp terminals.
11. Project schedule: Project is anticipated to be constructed between 2041-2050.
