)
The Greater Kansas City Regional Bikeway Plan and MetroGreen trail system envisions a cohesive regional network of bikeways, connected across city, county and state boundaries, that promotes active transportation. Often regional bikeways and trails are incorporated into multimodal corridors through a complete streets approach. A strong component of the Regional Bikeway Plan is transit service corridors, and the concept of Mobility Hubs where people move between modes easily to access jobs and services.
The network mirrors an interconnected system of roadway, stream and railroad corridors that cross state, county and city boundaries.
There are 8 project proposals, one for each County. This application is for Jackson County, Missouri.
The design of these facilities will vary from shared lane bikeways, dedicated bike lanes/protected bike lanes, cycle tracks to share use pathways.

Project Purpose:
|
* System expansion (added capacity)
* Other (Bicycle and pedestrians access across the region. )

Project Description: |
This project provides a planning level estimate of resources necessary to complete the regional bikeway network and MetroGreen trail system. The primary users are bicyclists and pedestrians. In cases in which MARC is listed as the sponsor, local governments or other entities with land use jurisdiction would need to implement projects.
|
Scope: |
An estimated 1,713 miles of unimproved regional bikeway corridors (roadway corridors) and 917 miles of unimproved MetroGreen trails remain to complete these regional networks. Cost will vary depending a number of local and corridor level unknowns. At the regional level, we calculated per mile cost based on 2019 estimates upgrades. We also calculated per mile cost for share use paths. This allows us to financially constrain the regional bikeways and trails within the Regional Transportation Plan.
