The design of this project accomodates motorists and freight vehicles. This project will add capacity and reduce bottlenecks at K-7/I-70 by eliminating 4 at-grade signals and replacing with grade seperations. Bike/ped crossings are included with the two interchanges at Kansas Ave and 130th Street thus improving safety and mobility for those crossing at those locations. This improvement is expected to improve mobility, access, and connectivity to regional activity centers and destinations for motorists ad freight shippers. Transit currently does not operate in the corridors, but the facility would accommodate service in the future should it be initiated.

Project Description: Reconstruction, capacity and safety improvements of the I-70/K-7 interchange. The interchange concept includes interchanges at I-70, 130th St, Kansas Ave. K-7 and I-70 will have C-D roads to separate thru traffic from ramp traffic. Primary users will be motorists and freight, but design accommodates transit and provides crossing points for bike/ped at the Kansas Ave and 130th Street interchanges.
Scope: Construct K-7 to a 6-Lane Freeway section. This project includes the overpasses at Speaker Road & I-70, overpasses at Speaker Road, completion of the eastbound CD road along I-70, and a ramp from northbound K-7 to eastbound I-70. The primary users will be motorists and freight.
