The design of this project accommodates motorists and freight vehicles. This project will add capacity and reduce bottlenecks at K-7/I-70 by eliminating 4 at-grade signals and replacing with grade separations. Bike/ped crossings are included with the two interchanges at Kansas Ave and 130th Street thus improving safety and mobility for those crossing at those locations. This improvement is expected to improve mobility, access, and connectivity to regional activity centers and destinations for motorists ad freight shippers. Transit currently does not operate in the corridors, but the facility would accommodate service in the future sh

Project Description: This project will construct the east half of the proposed interchange and Add the K-7 to westbound ramp movement to the west half of proposed interchange constructed under Proj. No. KA-1003-05. Construct the 134th St. overpass. Add acceleration and deceleration lanes to I-70. Add Collector-Distributor roads from K-7 east to 110th St. This project is designed for freight, motorists, and bike/peds and transit accomodated.
Scope: K-7 is to be a 6-lane section with C-D roads in locations to improve weave lengths. Project will remove 4 at-grade intersections, addressing crash severity and frequency, by providing 2 service interchanges at Kansas Ave and 130th Street, and a System-to-System interchange at K-7/I-70. Acceleration/deceleration improved at ramp locations, and route continuity/ with I-70 Construct the east half of the proposed interchange. Add the K-7 to westbound ramp movement to the west half of proposed interchange constructed under Proj. No. KA-1003-05. Construct the 134th St. overpass. Add acceleration and deceleration lanes to I-70. Add Collector/Distributor roads from K-7 east to 110th St.
