The Highway 7 project will improve congestion issues developing at these intersections that are acutely worsened by large truck turning movements. These turns are the result of the I-49 on and off ramp geometry at Highway 7 along with a new truck stop and other destinations along this corridor.

Project Description: This project will address traffic congestion that is worsening as the Highway 7 corridor develops. Motorists, freight, and pedestrians will all benefit with safer intersections and wider pavement sections. The extension of sidewalks will allow residents to access this developing commercial area.
Scope: Approximately 1,500 feet of Highway 7 corridor widening with designated turn lanes from I-49 to the railroad. Project will signalize 2 intersections along Highway 2, one at I-49 and one at Westchester Drive. Access roads will also be widened with turn lanes to facilitate truck turning movements.

This would be a very beneficial project to everyone in the area. Mr Pattersons description and scope is spot on. West Mechanic St. from Commercial St. to the Interstate will continue to see use and growth pressure.
