K-7 will be an access controlled freeway with primarily six through lanes for motorists and freight shippers. Long term goals are to eliminate any existing at grade access points along K-7 and provide access only at interchanges.

Project Description: The intent of the project is to modify K-7 to freeway design standards and to construct expressway intersection enhancements from the City of Lancing to State Avenue. The primary users would be motorist, freight, and bicyclists/pedestrians where appropriate.
Scope: The roadway classification type varies considerably throughout its length. Each segment of the highway has its own characteristics. K-7 Corridor Management Plan it has been determined that the expressway portions should be upgraded to a fully access-controlled freeway. The first segment from 43rd Street to K-10 would modify K-7 to freeway design standards and the project would construct expressway intersection enhancements from the City of Lansing to State Ave. The primary users would be motorists and freight shippers. The primary outcome would be the transition of a 2 lane facility to a 4 lane freeway along the corridor.
