Project Description: |
The project will reconstruct and widen Pryor Road from M-150 Highway to Longview Road, an existing two-lane, 45 mph, shouldered major arterial that continues north of Longview Road with an improved multi-lane urban street section to an interchange at Interstate 470. The project will add curb, storm sewer, sidewalk, shared-use path, turn lanes, medians, access management, street lighting, traffic signals, etc. The primary users include motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
|
Scope: |
All travel modes will be impacted by the 3 mile long project. The project will change the two-lane rural road to at least five lanes with an urban street section, sidewalks, shared-use path, and lighting; similar to the roadway section north of Longview Road to Interstate 470. New facilities for bicyclists and pedestrians will improve capacity and safety for non-motorized transportation. An elementary school is located along the corridor that will have improved accessibility. Turn lanes will improve safety and operations. The additional lane capacity, medians and access management will better accommodate future growth in this part of the City.
