Project will provide capacity and improved pavement for traffic between the residential neighborhoods and the City Park and Community Center. Jefferson also serves as an overflow traffic route of Highway 291 during peak evening and weekends.

Project Description: In 2016 the City installed new sidewalks form Locust Street to the City Community Center to keep children from walking in the street when going to the parks. Currently The road is a chip-seal 2-lane road classified as a major collector. This proposed project will install 3 lane roadway with a dedicated center turn lane, curbs and gutter, storm drainage, and utilize the new sidewalk.
Scope: Phase 1 of the Jefferson Parkway project will extend from Locust Street to the Citys community center a distance of approximately 3,100 feet. It will provide safe, reliable access for pedestrians as well as automobiles and will convert a narrow two lane chip seal road to a 3-lane paved street designed to a major collector standards.

A worthwhile project which will enhance property access and safety along the parkway and contribute to continued growth north to the city limits.

This is a very much needed project as the Community Center has over 4,000 members and several hundred visitors a day, the road has high traffic volume and will continue to grow in future years.
