This is classified as an arterial street that connects residential developments. This project would include adding sidewalks, bike lanes, and shared use paths to this corridor. With an enhanced roadway system transit routes can be expanded. This section of 119th Street is currently a rural roadway that connects Olathe to Gardner. This stretch of 119th connects local residential and commercial traffic.

9. Project description: Capacity improvement by increasing this roadway from a 2 lane rural road to a 3 lane arterial roadway which will include adding lanes, bike lanes, shared use paths, sidewalk, street lights, curb and gutter, and storm sewer. Potential traffic signal installations may occur at intersections with other arterial streets throughout this corridor. Improvements will result in added capacity, connectivity, improved travel times, and will encourage multimodal transportation.
10. Scope: (Approximately 2 miles) Project will change this roadway from a 2 lane rural road to a 3 lane arterial roadway which will include adding lanes, bike lanes, shared use paths, sidewalk, street lights, curb and gutter, and storm sewer. Potential traffic signal installations may occur at intersections with other arterial streets throughout this corridor as well as adding turn lanes. Improvements will result in added capacity, connectivity, improved travel times, improved safety, and will encourage multimodal transportation. New Sidewalk and/or Shared Use Path will be constructed on each side of the street will provide safety for pedestrians and bicyclists. This project will connect Olathe to the City of Gardner.
11. Project schedule: The project is anticipated to be constructed between 2041-2050.
