The Kentucky Road, River Blvd to U.S. 24 Highway, Project will improve the existing Kentucky Road two lanes to for a three lane minor arterial street. New curb and gutters will be installed and the storm sewers will be updated. Sidewalks will be placed on both sides of the road with new street lighting and dedicated bicycle facilities; additional turn lanes will be constructed as appropriate.

Project Description: This project will widen Kentucky Road from a 2-lane section suitable primarily for motor vehicles to a 3-lane section that accommodates bicycles and pedestrians and enhances access to transit facilities. The project includes the replacement of the Kentucky Road Bridge over Mill Creek and improves the intersection of Kentucky & 24 Hwy.
Scope: This 3.5 mile project will rehabilitate the Kentucky Road Bridge over Mill Creek, improve major intersections including 24 Hwy, Liberty, and Dickinson, as well as Whitney & Kentucky adjacent to Elm Grove Elementary. The project will correct horizontal and vertical deficiencies along the rural sections of roadway. School zone safety improvements will be made at the elementary school. Sufficient ROW will be acquired for future expansion from 3 lanes to 5 lanes to accommodate expected residential, commercial, and industrial growth along the corridor.
