Woodland Road is a significant north-south connection between Shawnee Mission Parkway and 83rd Street. The improvements will create an on-street bicycle route, connect to an existing share-the-road bicycle route and trail system, provide direct access to an activity center along the corridor, and establish a new transit route along Woodland.

Project Description: This section of Woodland Road is 1.5 miles in length and designated as future minor arterial road. The existing road is a narrow asphalt ditch section road with a below standard horizontal alingment. The improved street will follow a new alignment from 71st Street to the 7900 block and connect 75th Street from the west. This project will include grading, widening, new asphalt, new curbs, sidewalk/recreational trail, bridge structures, streetlights, storm drainage facilities, and other appurtenant works.
Scope: Woodland Road is a narrow, unsafe roadway, providing minimal street lighting, and provides no sidewalk,recreational trail, or adequate bicycle facilities. This segment is currently designated as share the road and but has little or no room to accommodate bicyclists. This project will enhance the safety of drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists and provide for transit opportunities.
