MO 92 connects the northern Metro area around KCI Airport to the growing community of Smithville. This area continues to grow residentially and commercially. As well, this corridor is used daily to travel to and from the Platte City and KCI areas. As the region develops, it is anticipated that not only will capacity of vehicular traffic increase, but also freight traffic. An increase of bicycle traffic is expected as those looking for new biking experiences would migrate to this new opportunity. The trail could be connected in the future to proposed trails a Smithville Lake.
Project Purpose: * System preservation, rehabilitation or replacement * Other (Multi-modal, shared use & safety improvements.)
Project Description: Motorists, bicyclists, and some freight traffic would benefit most from improvements to this facility that connects Smithville to the Platte City/KCI Airport area.
Scope: This nearly 9 mile long improvement project would consist of two lanes and appropriate shoulders. Roadside slope and horizontal/vertical curves would be adjusted for improved safety. A walking/biking trail would be part of the design. Budget permitting, R/W could be acquired during this improvement project for future Multi-modal improvements and lane additions.
