Amended Project

This project has been amended in the following way.

The project description Changes are as follows: Improve Quivira road from 143rd Street to 151st Street to a 2-lane divided arterial with turn lanes. Reconstruction of the existing facility will include adding turn lanes, installing bike lanes, sidewalks and a shared use path. Expected outcomes are added capacity, reduced and more reliable travel times, safer travel, reduced congestion, reduced emissions and increase in pedestrian access along the corridor. Project Scope changes: Reconstruct Quivira from 143rd Street to 151st Street form a rural 2-lane to a 2-lane divided arterial with turn lanes. This will add capacity for motorists, improve travel times, increase safety and reduce emissions along the corridor. Bicycle lanes, new sidewalks and a shared use path constructed on each side of the street will provide safety for pedestrian and bicyclists.

The existing infrastructure to the south of this corridor supports the proposed section. The change in scope is to accommodate the needs of the area now and in to the future. This will also set up the corridor for a future 4-lane arterial if ever needed. The addition of the division will increase safety and allow for additional access control along the corridor.
