Active Transportation, Transit, this is an arterial street that connects commercial and residential developments. The Citys 2016 Transportation Master Plan identified 159th Street for future bike lanes and shared use path. With an enhanced roadway system transit routes can be expanded.
Project Purpose: * System expansion (added capacity) rehabilitation or replacement)
Project Description: Capacity improvement from a 2 lane county road to 4 lane divided arterial
Scope: (Approximately 1 mile) This project will widen 159th Street between Brougham Drive and Black Bob Road from a two-lane county road section to a four-lane divided arterial street. Improvements will include pavement, medians, curb and gutter, storm sewer, street lights, landscaping, and all work pertinent to completing the project. This will add capacity for motorists and improve travel times. Adding turn lanes at each intersection will also improve safety and capacity. New Sidewalk and/or Shared Use Path will be constructed on each side of the street will provide safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
