1. Project name: Jackson Drive Improvements
2. City(ies), County(ies), State: The project is within Independence, Jackson County, Missouri.

5. Supplementary project mode(s): * Active Transportation * Highway/Roadway )
Jackson Drive will be a three lane wide street to transport travellers north or south in eastern Independence. It will mostly be on a new alignment. The three travel lanes will provide safe travel for motorists. There will be a sidewalk for pedestrians and a shared use bicycle/pedestrian path along the street. Transit service accesses the southern project limit and the street improvement may allow transit service expansion.

8. Total budget in 2019 dollars: $24000000
9. Project description: The primary user of the street will be motorists. Jackson Drive is an arterial street that carries north-south traffic through eastern Independence. A sidewalk will be build along Jackson Drive for use by pedestrians. A shared bike/ped trail will be built along the other side of Jackson Drive for use by bicyclists. Transit service is provided along Jackson Drive, south of 78 Highway, which is the limit of prior Jackson Drive improvements. It is expected that transit service will be extended on a new Jackson Drive as it is completed.
10. Scope: Jackson Drive will be built as a three lane street, with two through lanes and a center turn lane. Currently traffic is using rural two lane streets that do not meet current standards for arterial streets. The Jackson Drive improvements will connect at each end to previously completed phases of the project. The new project is 2.6 miles long. It will include a new bridge over Spring Branch Creek. There will be intersection improvements at 78 Highway, Truman Road Salisbury Road, and Bundschu Road.
11. Project schedule: It is likely that the project will be built in two phases. One phase would be 78 Highway to Truman Road. The other phase would be Truman Road to Bundschu Road. It is estimated that both phases will be complete in 2030.
