This project would extending Byars Road north with the construction of a proposed Parkway from MO 150 to Raytown Road. It includes realignment of an existing City street to better connect City and County parks and to facilitate efficient travel to I-470. The project would improve mobility for all modes of transportation as well through the addition of a trail system that would connect the existing trail system on Mo 150 to the MetroGreen Trail at Longview Lake and further north in Kansas City.

Project Description: The intent of the project is to improve north/south capacity and accessibility for all modes of transportation by building a new Parkway and trail system from existing Byars Road to existing Raytown Road. The primary users of this project are motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and freight carriers.
Scope: This project would entail building approximately 1.5 mile of roadway and adjacent trail system connecting Byars Rd and Highgrove Rd/Raytown Rd. It is intended to accommodate all modes of transportation and connect north/south users on the east side of the City of Grandview and west side of Lees Summit to KCMO and interstate I-470.

This would be a great expansion for many reasons. The connection of major road systems is great for the area economy. Adding additional trail connections will help reduce the trail gaps that occur in Grandview.
