Join us Sept. 14 for the first-ever Metro KC Climate Action Summit
Internationally recognized speakers to highlight emerging trends in climate change and encourage local governments to take collective action.
We are pleased to announce that Paul Hawken, internationally known environmentalist, entrepreneur, activist and author of “Drawdown” will keynote the Metro KC Climate Action Summit on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Johnson County Community College. Hosted by the Metro KC Climate Action Coalition (MKCCAC), the event will focus on emerging trends in climate resilience, celebrate regional success stories and offer expert strategies to advance climate mitigation and adaptation.

Topics:
Panel discussions will include the new energy economy; the business case for climate resilience; equity and the environment; green building and efficiency; transportation; public health; local success stories; and national solutions to climate change.
Keynote Speaker:
Paul Hawken has dedicated his life to environmental sustainability and changing the relationship between business and the environment. He is one of the environmental movement’s leading voices and a pioneering architect of corporate reform with respect to ecological practices.
Hawken’s work includes founding successful, ecologically conscious businesses, writing about the impacts of commerce on living systems, and consulting with heads of state and CEOs on economic development, industrial ecology, and environmental policy. He founded Project Drawdown, a non-profit dedicated to researching when and how global warming can be reversed.
